Abstract
This article is devoted to the analysis of integration processes on the European continent. The paper examines in detail the stages of formation and development trends of economic integration cooperation in Europe, including describing the ideas and driving forces of European unification, analyzing integration processes from the creation of the “European Coal and Steel Community” to the creation of the European Union. In addition, the article discusses the expansion processes of the European Union towards to east, describes accession criteria (Copenhagen criteria) for joining the European Union, and also analyzes the prospects for its further expansion in the future.
